      John Pleasants, II
      Birth 1671, Henrico County, Virginia
Death 1714 (aged 42?43),Henrico County, Virginia
Burial: Curles Neck Meeting House Burying Ground
      Henrico County, Virginia
John Pleasants, II is actually the fourth to be given this name from his line in England. It's origin comes from John Pleasants, Ist (1588-1640); then John2, II (1618-death unk), then John3, III (1644-1698) aka John, I in America and aka John the Immigrant. This has confused many. This is an attempt to clear up that confusion. John Pleasants, II (aka IV, from his line in England) married Dorothy Carey, dau. of Thomas and Ann (Milner) Carey. They are the parents of (there may be more):
John Pleasants3, III (1697-1771)(aka V, from his line in England)
      Alice (Pleasants) Proffitt (1698-1771)
      John Pleasants, II's Parents are:
John Pleasants, I (1644/45-1698)(aka the Immigrant, aka John, III from his line in England) and Jane (Larcome) Pleasants, widow of Capt. Samuel Tucker.
John Pleasants, II's Siblings are (there may be more):
      Joseph Pleasants
      Mary Elizabeth (Pleasants) Cocke
John, II inherited Curles "Neck" Plantation, Henrico County, Colony of Virginia from his father, John, I, the Immigrant. Joseph, John and Mary Elizabeth aka Eliza. are mentioned in his will. Mary Elizabeth (Pleasants) Cocke (1676-1751) is John, II's sister, not daughter.
The Pleasants family were a prominent Virginia Quaker family with lands on the Upper James River.

      to me
Comments (John2 Pleasants b. Est 1670 Henrico County, Virginia d. Yes, date unknown): Do you have proof that Alice Pleasants who m. Sylvester Proffitt is a daughter of John? I have looked for this for a long time.
      Thanks, Debbie
      Record on Ancestry:
Thank you. These documents are not source records and cannot be verified. I have spent many hours in the Quaker records, and there is no Alice Pleasants to be found. Sylvester was a Jacobite, so Alice should have disallowed from the Quaker faith. There is no mention of her in any will, deed or otherwise that names her as a Pleasants. Before my mother died she really wanted to join the Jamestown Society and this was the only probable line we found and just have no proof.
Appreciate your reply. Will keep looking forever I am afraid. Kind regards, Debbie DeHart
