THE VIRGINIA MAGAZINE OF HISTORY AND BIOGRAPHY Volume IV The year ending June 1897 THE COCKE'S OF VIRGINIA William Cocke, son of John Cocke married Sarah Perrin, b 1695; died 1711, Martha is their daughter; Martha married Henry Wood, attorney at law and county clerk of Goochland; married 13 Oct 1723 at Bremo, Henrico Co., VA There is also on record the will of William Cox3, dated 10 Feb 1711, probated June, 1712 which mentions son Stephen, daughters Martha, Mary, Prudence, Judith, Elizabeth, and wife SARAH. In Goochland the will of Sarah Cox, dated 26, Mar 1726, probated 20 Jan 1747 She mentions Stephen, daughters Edith, Martha, Elizabeth, Mary, Prudence, and Judith. She appoints Henry Wood her executor whose handwriting is identified as the Clerk of Goochland County at that date and father of Col. Valentin Wood) who married Lucy Henry, and was the grandfather of General Joseph E. Johnston, Beverly.....(See Documents)
