      September 23, 1914

      Yesterday Elmer G. Devonshire, a resident near Lenape, died at the Chester County Hospital, aged about forty-seven years. The deceased was taken ill with typhoid fever some time since, and was brought to the above named institution for treatment about ten days ago, but grew worse, and the end came yesterday.

      Mr. Devonshire was a native of Cecil County, Md, but came to West Chester a number of years since, and for a considerable tie was employed at the West Chester Steam Laundry and resided with his family in this place. Of late years he has held a responsible position at the Brandywine Meadow Stock Farms of Charles E. Mather, in Birmingham township.

      The deceased is survived by a widow and two sons, besides other relatives, some residing in West Chester. He was a member of Brandywine Council, No. 758 Independent Order of Americans.

      Mr. Devonshire was a quiet, industrious man, attended to his duties, and devoted to his family. He had a number of warm friends besides to mourn his loss. The funeral services will be held at the home of a brother-in-law, J.T. McClintock, No. 218, North Franklin street, West Chester, where the remains can be viewed.
