In 1777 William took the "Oath of Allegiance" in Pittsylvania Co. He & his small family appear in the 1782 Pittsylvania Co. Tax List. His estate was settled by the October court of 1819. William left a "Negro striker" in the appraisal of his personal property so he may have been a blacksmith by trade.
