      to Tommy, me, Leslie, Nancy
Hello From Unusually Sunny But Cold Scotland ?,

I?m descended from a Hugh Reynolds, b. 1827 in County Antrim, (Northern) Ireland, who migrated east with his brother William to Ayrshire, Scotland, by 1847-ish to work as Iron Workers. My Reynolds line, as has William?s, has been here ever since. Hugh married Anne Kane, an Ayrshire lass. Hugh and William?s father, also Hugh, and mother Janet (nee White or While?) must have been born circa 1800, probably somewhere in (Northern) Ireland. As Tommy says, there are quite a few Hugh Reynolds in my ancestry at various points but Hugh/Janet are a brick wall/mystery and I can find nothing on either except the boys? marriage certificates on ScotlandsPeople site and iirc someone on Ancestry thinks his father was called Daniel, but no source. There are a few Alexander McDougall Reynolds too (me being one). Other than some Strachans and Laverty/Laffertys I am not aware of any American Reynolds in the family but there must be some surely !? I?m excited to make your acquaintance, meet you all in some manner and expand my knowledge/family. I am new to DNA genealogy but liken it to time travel, in that it seems fascinating and impossible until it?s not ?. My query revolve around am I a native Irish or Norse Reynolds (MacRhaignall, etc), Scots/Irish Reynolds, originally Scottish, or Norman/English? It?s a conundrum?
      Many thanks everyone,
      Sandy Reynolds
