      Col. Reynolds enlisted in the USAF Reserve in 1979, and received numerous accolades and recognition for her job performance and contributions to the military. She was commissioned a second lieutenant in September 1985, and served her entire career with the 46th Aerial Port Squadron at Dover Air Force Base. She was appointed as the squadron's commander in July 1997 and served in that capacity until her death.

      She graduated summa cum laude from Cecil Community College, North East, Md., and was valedictorian of the class of 1982. She also graduated from the Community College of the Air Force in 1985; her studies included transportation and traffic management and education and training. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1983 from Wilmington College in supervision and management, graduating magna cum laude. She then graduated from Wilmington College in 1991 with a master's degree in human resources management and a master's degree in human resources administration, once again magna cum laude. She continued her education up through 2003 and received more than 60 credits beyond the masters degree.

      Col. Reynolds received numerous awards and accolades during her military career, including 14th Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air Force Outstanding Air Reserve Component Transportation Officer of the Year for 1989, Air Reserve Component Transportation Company Grade Officer of the Year 1992, Distinguished Graduate of the Intermediate Wartime Contingency Course, 22nd Air Force and Air Force Reserve Command Field Grade Transportation Officer of the Year for 1999. The 46th Aerial Port Squadron was named 22nd Air Force Outstanding Aerial Port for 2002.

      While pursuing her education, Col. Reynolds worked from 1978 to 1984 as a secretary-bookkeeper for Bohemia Manor High School in Chesapeake City, Md. From 1982 to 1984 she was an accounting instructor for Cecil Community College in North East.

      From 1984 until her passing, she was a business education teacher in the Cecil County Public Schools in Elkton and from 1979 served as a logistician for the U.S. Air Force Reserve at Dover AFB. She was proud to have been recognized as Teacher of the Year for the current school year.

      Col. Reynolds' hobbies included reading, traveling, and bargain shopping. Her extracurricular activities included class adviser for the freshman, sophomore, and junior classes, Future Business Leaders of America adviser, cheerleading coach, girls' track coach, yearbook adviser, and Service Learning building coordinator.

      Her community activities included a 2000 membership on the Cecil County School Employees Federal Credit Union board of directors, the 1986 Cecil County Classroom Teachers Association treasurer and Delaware Committee of Employer Support of Guard and Reserve. Her professional memberships included the Cecil County Classroom Teachers Association, Maryland State Teachers Association, National Education Association, life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, life member of the Reserve Officers Association, Maryland Business Education Association and Future Business Leaders of America.
