- Stella Gregory McCubbins, 87, of 17952 Franklin Tpke, Callands, VA died Monday, October 31, 2011 in Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.
Born April 9, 1924 in Pittsylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Gregory and the late Mary Harvey Gregory.
She was married to Harold L. McCubbins who preceded her in death April 26, 2006.
Mrs. McCubbins formerly worked as a bookkeeper for the Norfolk School System and later at George Washington High School in Danville.
She was a member of the County Line Christian Church where she enjoyed attending church and Bible study with a host of friends.
She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann McLaughlin and husband, James of Scarborough, ME; four grandchildren, Lee Ann Smart, Deborah Shelton and husband, Tony, Michael McLaughlin and wife, Rhonda and Andrew McLaughlin and wife, Suzanne; nine great-grandchildren; special friends, Ervin and Peggy Mullins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Audrey G. Finney (1922-2010) and her brothers, Alvin Gregory (1918-1998) and Dr. Carlton Gregory (1919-1999).
Funeral services were held at Norris Funeral Services, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville on Thursday, November 3, 2011, at 2pm, with Minister Dean Ashby officiating. Interment Highland Burial Park.
The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:30pm to 1:30pm and other times at the residence, 17952 Franklin Tpke, Callands.
