These are some notes that Samuel Miller, Jacob's great grandson, wrote down what he remembered about the Miller family history and were found in the Miller Family Bible.
Christian Miller and Anna Catherine, twins, were born November Nov 26, 1799. My mother Elizabeth Sherer was born in Guilford Co. N.C.
Brother Cornelius died near Oelwein, Iowa. Have not date of his death, but think in June 1895.
Brother Adam died in Wooster, Ohio. I think the same year of Bro. Cornelius's death.
Father traded his farm for a farm and mill property on Twin Creek in the eastern part of
Preble Co, 3 miles south of west- Alexandria. In 1850 he re-moved 4 miles north to New Lexington.
And from there in 1859, he and mother together with my two sisters and brother-in-law and one of my brothers and family re-moved to Iowa.
Here mother died May 1st, 1868 aged 65 years, 3 months, and 26 days. Father died January 26, 1886; aged 88 yrs, 9 mo. and 26 days. They are both buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetary, Littleton, Iowa.
Of their children the 2 younger died in infancy, seven grew to manhood and womanhood. Of these
brothers, John died in 1857, about 28 yrs of age, sister Sarah who was never married, died in Pocahontas Co., Iowa. Buried there, died June 20th, 1892.

      Jacob Miller, Sr.
      -
Son of John Frederick and Anna Maria (Arnd) Miller. Appears to have been born about 1743 in either Virginia or Pennsylvania. First appeared in the Halifax County, Virginia Tithables in the household of his father in 1771. He married Martha Stovall, daughter of William Roberts, Sr. of Halifax County. They were the parents of at least seven children who were: Sarah, Haman, Martha, Anna, Roberts, Elizabeth and Jacob Miller, Jr. It is believed that Martin Miller of Laurens County, SC, was also of this family. They lived in Halifax County, Va. until about 1783, then moved to Randolph County, NC where they resided until about the mid-1790's. At that time, the family moved to Laurens County, SC where Jacob died in 1828 (See Jacob Miller Article for more details on this family).

The 1785 tax list for Randolph County, the first one found after the 1779 list, enumerated
Hamon Miller with one white poll, one black poll., and 1,103 acres of land. The only other Miller on the partial list that was read, was Jacob Miller, Haman's younger brother who had married Martha Stovall Roberts, sister of Frances, back in Halifax County, Virginia. The couple probably moved to Randolph County about 1783. Jacob also appeared on the 1790 Federal Census along with Haman; Peter Miller, son of Haman; and Richard Miller who probably was not related.
