Update; this is not a coincidence! I've done some digging. Mahala Carter is in my direct line. She married Update; this is not a coincidence! I've done some digging. Mahala Carter is in my direct line. She married John Ewel Medley. I have tons of DNA matches to my Medley cousins. Sally Medley 1778-1860 is the sister of Samuel Medley 1779-1859.
Samuel Medley moved to Warren Tenn. His son is John Ewel Medley that married my 3x aunt Mahala Carter.
Now given that so many of my cousins ( in all my Warren County Tenn lines). It mite stand to reason, that Sally Medley and Peter Carter may have been cousins. (of some sort).
I've looked into trees on family search and Peter Carter 1776-1860 is in Knox Tenn.
I found a father Edward Carter 1752-1812 b Virginia d Kentucky. Two separate sets of children. One set with a mother and the other not. Not an Isaac Carter at all so far.
I have looked at most of my lines in Warren county looking for any that seem integrated with Carter families. I don't know why but I didn't expect it to be the Medleys. But I'm so happy to have found this.
Maybe I'm closer to breaking that brick wall
I wonder if this is just a coincidence? My 3x great aunt Mahala Carter married a John Ewel MedleyJohn Ewel Medley. I have tons of DNA matches to my Medley cousins. Sally Medley 1778-1860 is the sister of Samuel Medley 1779-1859.
