According to the late Miss Maggie Philpott, compiler of the Philpott history, the following were brothers and sisters:Hezekiah Ellington; David Ellington; Jesse Ellington; Sally Ellington; Nancy Ellington; Prudence Ellington; and Betsey Ellington. Most of them migrated to KY from VA prior to 1820, according to Miss Philpott.Other information I found identifies the parents of this Hezekiah Ellington, who married Obedience Hatcher, 30 Nov 1797 in Chesterfield Co., VA, as Hezekiah Ellington, Sr. and Ridley Anne Bruce, daughter of Alexander Bruce.

Two of the brothers mentioned above settled in close proximity in Cumberland Co.: Hezekiah Ellington, Jr. settled in what is now known as White's Bottom, and Jesse Ellington settled near Grider. There is an Ellington cemetery on the Jimmy Garmon farm near Grider (Jesse's family) and also one in White's Bottom on the B. F. Taylor farm, which was owned by descendants of the Ellington family until Mr. Taylor purchased it in recent years.

Hezekiah Ellington, Jr., born 16 Apr 1777 in Prince Edward Co., VA, died 16 Oct 1840 in Cumberland Co., and wife Obedience Hatcher, born in Chesterfield Co., VA, daughter of Samuel Hatcher and Obedience Beasley, had the following children:

      1. Benjamin Ellington, b. 1798 in VA, d. in infancy.
      2. Ridley Ann Ellington, b. 1799 in VA, m. Robert Brummall.
      3. Martha W. Ellington, b. 7 Nov 1801 in VA, d. 23 Jul 1841 in Cumberland Co., m. Barton Philpott on 2 Aug 1823.
      4. Samuel D. Ellington, b. 1803 in VA, d. 22 Oct 1879 in Chariton Co., MO, m. Permelia Perkinson.
      5. Dolly Ellington, b. 1805 in VA, d. after 1883 in Chariton Co., MO, m. Horatio Philpott.
      6. David A.H. Ellington, b. 2 Jul 1807 in VA, d. 17 Feb 1855 in Cumberland Co., m. Martha Ellington, a cousin.Their children were: Jesse Bruce, d. young; Mary Ann, m. Larn Alexander; James, m. Mary Overstreet; and Martha, m. Marsh Williams.
      7. Eliza B. Ellington, b. 1809 in VA, m. John Perkinson.

Jesse Ellington, brother of Hezekiah, Jr., m. Nancy Hatcher.Their children were:

      1. William Ellington, m. Sally Gaines, then Eliza Dickens.
      2. Martha Ellington, m. her cousin, David A. H. Ellington.
      3. Jane Ellington, m. William Alexander.
      4. Creed Ellington, never married.
      5. Albert Ellington, never married.

According to the work of Miss Philpott, Rebecca Ellington, sister of Jesse and Hezekiah, first married Richard Miller, and after his death, Barrett White. This is the family from which White's Bottom got its name.Miss Philpott said that Nancy, another sister, married John Miller; and Betsey Ellington married Billy Borum.Another sister, Prudence, married three time, first to a Mason, second to a Bruce, third to a Perkinson. The sister Sally Ellington married Thomas Knight.

Family lore among the Ellington family is that the surname was once Wellington, but was changed by the immigrant who left England to save his life because he was on the wrong side politcally.
I hope this will be of some help to all you Ellington researchers. If there is any further information that is printed in the newspaper I will publish it here.I have no other information on this family. Please excuse any errors made here.
