CHARLES M.T.
WARE, 97
LAKELAND - Charles M.T. Ware, age 97, was greeted in heaven with the words 'well done, good and faithful servant' on January 17, 2021.
Charles was born on September 9, 1923, in Shepherdstown, WV, the fourth of five sons, to Josiah and Elizabeth Ware. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and graduated from the University of Virginia in 1947. After moving to Lakeland in 1956, he met and married Patsy Lindsey at St. David's Episcopal Church in 1958. They moved to Mulberry where they raised three daughters, Charlene (Lin), Virginia (Ginny) and Ann. Charles worked as a chemist at American Cyanamid Brewster Phosphates until 1986 and was a faithful member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. After retirement Charles and Patsy bought a motor home and traveled extensively across the U.S. and Canada, to Alaska and back several times and also made several trips to England. Later they bought a home in Mulberry where they spent the rest of their years together until Patsy's passing in 2006. They became members of All Saints' Episcopal Church around 1990 and were known for their faithful service there for many years. Charles especially served in the Sidewalk Sunday School ministry for the homeless where he was much loved for his humor and grace-filled kindness. Charles moved to Arbor Oaks assisted living in 2016, where he enjoyed friendship and card games with many other residents and was faithful in Bible studies and church attendance.
Charles is survived by his three daughters, Charlene (Mike) Ware of Lakeland, Ginny (Matt) Donovan of Bradenton, and Ann (Dan) Odom of Mulberry, six grandchildren, Matt, Daniele, Cayleigh, K.C., Megan and Hunter, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Charles was a very supportive and loving father and grandfather. He is well-remembered especially for leading many in the Christian faith and changing their lives in a heavenward direction. Charles' love and devotion will be carried on for many generations to come. Funeral services with limited attendance will be held Saturday, February 20th at 11am at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Lakeland and will also be live-streamed. In lieu of flowers contributions may be may be made to All Saints' Church or Camp Wingmann.
