Elijah Clarke in the siege of Augusta, Georgia.He fought in 17 battles, was wounded in the Battle of Long Cane, South Carolina and emerged a lieutenant-colonel in the Continental army.He fought with Gen. Marion in the Battle of Cowpens, Battle of 96, Battle of Guilford Courthouse and the Battle of King's Mountain.He died of smallpox April 16, 1781 in Georgia at the age of 40.
