We lost my aunt Jane (Alma F. Sanford older sister) this afternoon. She was: One of the smartest people I know; my role model in historic research; the person who was there to hold our hands the day my dad died. She never missed my birthday. Not one time, even after I'm sure it was hard to write the address on the card.
Speaking of, she gave me a hydrangea for my 40th birthday which I had planted in a spot that was a little too shady for it, but lately we had to cut a tree down and now it's growing like crazy.
She had a really sly, hilarious sense of humor.
If there's a hereafter, she's talking to a whole bunch of our ancestors right now as I type this. I sure hope so.
