From The Old Free State, by Landon C. Bell, page 144:
An effort was again made to divide the county [Lunenburg Co., VA] in 1759. The question was an important one in the campaign for the House of Burgesses, for the session beginning September 14 (32 Geo. II), 1758. The candidates were Clement Read, Mathew Marrable, and HENRY BLAGRAVE. Just how Read and Blagrave stood on the question of dividing the county we know only inferentially. But Marrable was committed to the proposition. Not only so, but he very injudiciously wrote a letter to David Caldwell agreeing if elected to use his utmost endeavors to divide the county or forfeit five hundred pounds. Read and Marrable were returned elected, and BLAGRAVE on September 15, 1758, presented to the House of Burgesses a petition contesting the election of both (Journal, House of Burgesses, 1758-1761, p. 8).
