Mary Powell m. Thomas Tanner before she was 21 and also died before she was 21. Her Husband, Thomas Tanner brought suit upon the death of Joshua Powell, her Father to claim his wife's dower part in the sale of a negro boy to James Powell, her brother. Ultimately the suit was dismissed. Deponents in this suite include Richard Carter, and John Carter. Most of the depositions occur in Meadesville, Halifax County. 1805 is the timeframe.
