      On December 15th, 1794, William Parker and Benjamin Terry III gave Bond 3 in Pittsylvania Co. for a license to marry Delilah Motley.

      This couple were married 40 years, bringing forth 16 children. When Benjamin III died prior to 15th Dec 1834,4 eleven of those children survived him. The guardianship papers for the three youngest children who had not come of age, Delia Margaret, Robert Alexander, and James Nathaniel, 5 can be found in the court records. Before the 20th of March 1837, Delilah (Motley) Terry dies. 6 The adult Sons Benjamin F. Terry, Joseph Motley Terry and William Parker Terry7 are adm'rs for both their father and mother's estates.

      Benjamin Terry Jr. was born on December 11, 1745. He lived along Sandy Creek in the southeastern part of the county and was Captain of a company of Patriot militia during the Revolution. He was the brother of Colonel Nathaniel Dickerson Terry. After the war he built and operated a grist mill on John's Run.
      Benjamin married Elizabeth Parker (daughter of William and Martha Colquitt Parker) and the couple had 11 children. Their daughter Mary married Major John Bennett. Their son Nathaniel married Polly Stone, daughter of Captain Joshua Stone. Their son Obadiah married Martha Motley. Their son Daniel married Mary Clopton, sister of Rev. Abner Wentworth Clopton. Their son Robert married his first cousin once removed Dianne Royall Terry. Their daughter Martha Drucilla married David Fuqua. Their daughter Nancy married a Mr. Fontaine. Their daughter Elizabeth married a Mr. Motley.
      Benjamin's will provided for his children as follows:
      Heirs: 1. daughter, Elizabeth D. Motley - 104 pounds in property at valuation 2. son, Benjamin Terry - 36 pounds in property at valuation 3. son, Daniel Terry - 174 pounds, but out of this amount he is to pay Jeremiah Terry the amount above and interest given by David Fuqua, in which I am bound, and the balance in property at valuation, to be disposed of as my son, Daniel Terry may think proper for the benefit of my daughter, Drucilla Fuqua, and her heirs. Son, Daniel, 117 pounds at property. 4. daughter, Drucilla Fuqua 5. daughter, Polly Bennett - 174 pounds in property at valuation 6. son, Nathaniel Terry, dec'd, heirs - 42 pounds in property at valuation 7. son, Obediah P. Terry - 45 pounds in property at valuation 8. daughter, Sally C. Terry - four negroes: Isbell, Lippy, Wilmouth and Chaney and their future increase. 9. daughter, Nancy R. Fontaine - 108 pounds in property at valuation 10. son, Robert Terry - 66 pounds in property at valuation 11. daughter, Lucy G.
