      Brass Memorial Plaque
      Dr. Wm. L. Stamps was an Elder of Milton Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. Following the deaths of her parents, Mary Stamps Royster honored their longtime service to the church with this embossed bronze plaque which hangs on the eastern wall of the church's Sanctuary today
      The Mary Stamps Royster is the author of the Stamps Memoir.

      LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF WILLIAM L. STAMPS
      Probated February 5, 1897 at a
      Court held at Yanceyville, North
      Carolina. Book B, page 232.

      In making this, my last will and testament, I, desire humbly to thankGod for the blessings, temporal and spiritual to me and my children. Having given to my oldest daughter all that I am able to give, I now can give her no more, except she can take some memento of her father and mother which she shall select.
      1st. In the first place, I desire that my debts be paid out of my personal and landed property. After this is done, then I give to my son Edward Roe Stamps a fourth of all property left.
      2nd. And to Pauline Stamps, or any other children which my son Thomas Stamps may have, one fourth of all said land and personal effects. My son Thomas Stamps shall hold the property for Pauline Stamps and any other children which Thomas may beget. Thomas Stamps may hold or sell it for their benefit without being required to give security and shall be allowed liberal fees for his trouble.
      3rd. To Mary S. Royster I give one fourth of all my property.
      4th. To Preston Stamps I give one fourth of all my land and personal effects.
      And may God have mercy upon us all and train us for Glory that we maymeet in Heaven with those gone before and may we all praise Father and Holy Ghost for ever and ever.
