Marriage Info: from "Marriage Bonds and Ministers Returns of Halifax County, Virginia 1753-1800", p. 6 dd. Nancy Stamps was born in 1768. She married Elias Dodson, Jr. on Nov 23, 1785. They took out a license to marry in Halifax Co., VA. Thomas Dodson was surety and Nancy's father signed the certificate. Rev. Lazarus Dodson, of Pittsylvania County, married them. He was born to Joseph & Martha Ann Dodson ca. 1760. Joseph was the son of Thomas Dodson, Jr. Toward the end of 1812, Elias fell and injured himself while walking across the joists of the home he was building. He did not recover. He died in 1815 at the age of 55 years. His will is to be found in Will Book 12, pages 171-173, Halifax County 1815. Nancy died at the age of 70 in February of 1837.
