  Family research from a Manuscript titled "Genealogical Records of Richardsons and Waddills of Virginia and Kentucky" written by Mrs. Stacy [Pocahontas Hewell Hutchinson] in 1939 has information passed along from letters written in 1902 by Mrs. Mary Waddill of Woodville, McCracken Co KY. She is said to have been a great aunt of Mrs. Stacy and was 88 years old at the time the letters were written. Mary's father was Charles Waddell of Pittsylvania Co VA, son of a Noel Waddill. She gives a birth date of 28 Jan 1797 for Noel and a birth date for his father Charles as 9 Jan 1775. First record of Waddills found in Pittsylvania Co records: Pittsylvania DB 7 p.438 30 Dec 1784 Thomas Wynne to Noel Waddill of Halifax Co. 350£. Tract in Pittsy both sides of Sandy Creek of Dan River. 606 acres. Corner James Scales line, to Hammonds, Robert Williams's line, James Wood? This is what was written: "Richard and James Carter and their sister Anne Waddill went to Alabama, as did their kinsmen John and Michaux Cunningham."
