Roger C. Merricks, 68, of Martinsville died Sunday January 8, 2012 at his home. He was born in Callands. Virginia on August 21, 1943 the son of the late Obie R. Merricks, Sr., and the late Winnie Vaughan Merricks. Roger was in the U.S. Air Force. Surviving are one sister and brother-in-law, Debi and Wes Wells of Bassett; one brother, Obie R. Merricks, Jr., of Martinsville; two nieces, Tanya Martin and Erin Merricks; one nephew, Trey Martin and one estranged daughter. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 12 from 12 - 2 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Alan Vaughan , Rev. Lew Bennett and Mike Rogers officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice Fund c/o Martinsville Area Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1124, Martinsville, Va. 24114. Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett is serving the family of Roger C. Merricks.
