      Youngest Son of Paul Carrington and Margaret. His wife Born 20 Sept. 1764 and Died Jan 1860 at the Early Age of 17 years. He joined the American Armies as a Volunteer. Shared in the Dangers and glory of the Battles of the Green Spring and Guilford. He was 19 years a Judge of the General Court of Virginia. A Zealous Patriot, and an Example to his family. He lived in a Firm Belief of the Christain Religion and Died Trusting alone for Redemption on his Savior. This Momument was erected to his Cherished Memory by His Affectionate Wife

      Revolutionary War soldier; educated at Hampden-Sydney and at the College of William and Mary; studied law under Attorney-General Randloph; a member of the VA Senate (speaker for one day); and a Judge of the General Court of VA; son of Judge Paul Carrington Sr. and Margaret Read of Mulberry Hill Plantation. He married on 24 Aug 1786, Mildred Howell Coles (buried at this cem.); they had the following children (all b. in VA): Ann Mayo Carrington, who married Dr. Charles Fontaine; Edward Codrington b. 1790; Mildred Lightfoot b. abt 1792; Walter Coles b. 1794; William Allen b. 1796; Paul S. b. 1798; and Isaac Coles b. 1811.
      The family resided at "Sylvan Hill" in Charlotte Co., VA.
