- Obituary for Percy Lee Rowland
Percy Lee Rowland, 97, of 1128 Pounds Road, Sutherlin, VA died on August 29, 2024 at SOVAH in Danville, VA. after a brief illness.
Lee was born in Pittsylvania County, VA. on July 11, 1927, a son of the late Fitzhugh Lee Rowland and Frances Ashworth Rowland.
On April 4, 1979, he married Diane Jones Rowland, who survives of the residence.
Lee spent all of his life in Pittsylvania County and Danville area and attended Schoolfield High School in Danville and was Captain of the baseball and football teams. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Lee worked in law enforcement with the City of Danville Police Department for 36 years and retired as a Lieutenant. He continued his career working for the Federal Marshall Service at United States District Court in Danville, VA. for 20 years. He attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses.
Lee is survived by wife and daughter Sheila Lerma (Triny) of Florida; son Joseph Lee Rowland of Raleigh NC; adopted daughters Janet R. Powell (Carter) of Raleigh NC; step-daughter Angie Anderson (James) of South Boston, VA. ; sister, Jean R. Poff of Roanoke, VA; grandchildren Anne Catherine Johnson, Caroline Pressley, Carter Powell, Daniel Powell, Dustin Lee Rowland and Katie Anderson; great grandchildren Collin Johnson Pressley and Sully James Pressley and numerous extended family and friends.
In addition to his father and mother he was predeceased by a daughter Cynthia Rowland, brothers Billy Rowland and G.C. Rowland.
A graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday September 4, 2024 at 11:00AM at Highland Burial Park 3049 N Main Street, Danville, VA. 24540 with Pastor Ryan Call officiating.
