      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      GILES CARTER OF VIRGINIA, by Gen. W. G. H. Carter, says that the following Henrico Co. VA records are for Giles CARTER III, son of Giles II. (I believe that to be incorrect -- See NOTE below.)
      p 72 - 28 Sep 1772, Giles sold a slave and 2 horses to Drury Wood.
      p 73 - 8 Apr 1784, appointed as tobacco inspector (sureties, Martin Hawkins & John Smith).
      p 74 - 11 May 1787, Giles was sued by Sewell CARTER (suit dismissed).
      6 Aug 1788, court ordered payment to Giles by Thomas WILLIAMSON.
      5 May 1789, Giles & John SMITH sued Nathaniel MILLER.
      4 Apr 1792, court ordered payment to Giles by William A. SMITH.
      The names, Sewell CARTER and Thomas WILLIAMSON suggest a connection with Giles II, but probably a later generation than his son.
      NOTE
      I believe that Giles II and III were in North Carolina by 1744; but it's possible that Giles III may have returned to Henrico Co. later.
      However, Giles III died before 1 August 1790.
