      p. 411 Deed 16 June 1741 Theodorlck Carter of Goochland Co., to Richard Manlng of same, for ? 27, 250 acres on south side of James River, which said Carter bought of Mathew Ligon; bounded by Fighting Creek, Samuel Allen, John Radford, William Allin, Mathew Ligon and John Hails. Wit: Samuel Burton, Richard Scruggs, Daniel (Dl) Johnson Signed: Theodorick Carter Recorded 16 June 1741

      He had probably left Henrico Co. before 1747, when his mother's will was executed. From her he inherited the family Bible, but his brother John was the principal legatee and the executor.

Sep 14, 1762 from Theodrick Carter of P [Pittsylvania], to William Randolph of the country of Great Britain, for 140 ?, a certain tract of land in P on the branches of Bush River, 400 acres bounded by [Mc]Geehee, the low grounds, Halcomb.       Nicholas Holt and Sarah, his wife, one of the daughters of Samuel Gregory, late of Charles City County, Samuel, Martha and William Holt, children of said Sarah and grandchildren of said Samuel Gregory, infants under 21, show that Samuel Gregory died 1768 seized of considerable estate, leaving a will which left slaves to his wife Elizabeth for life or widowhood and after her death or marriage to the children of Sarah and son William Gregory. He named Elizabeth and son William Gregory executors. They rendered no account. In april last [1771] Elizabeth Gregory married Theodorick Carter of this county [Charles City Co., VA] and he possessed the estate. William Holt has two children, Samuel and Elizabeth. June 1771 Estate ordered to be divided.
