      Harold Hylton Hubbard, 69, of 208 Stanley Drive, Danville, Va. died July 20, 2015 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. He was born October 16, 1945 in Martinsville, Va. to the late Cecil Randolph Hubbard and Mary Gladys Wells Hubbard. He was a member of County Line Christian Church, where he was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. He retired from Goodyear after 34 years of service. Known as ?The Groundhog Man,? he enjoyed hunting groundhogs, coyotes, and deer. He loved to visit the elderly and the shut-ins of the community.

      He is survived by his wife, Shirley Doss Hubbard of the residence; one daughter, Angie Hubbard Adams and husband, Randy of Danville; two sisters, Margaret Shelton (Stover) of Climax, Va., and Alva Allen of Goochland, Va.; one brother, Wendell Hubbard (Madeline) of Collinsville, Va.; three brothers-in-law, Donnie Doss (Ann), Joe Doss (Martha), and Ronnie Doss (Diane), all of Danville. Also surviving is his mother-in-law, Mae Doss of Danville.

      In addition to his parents, Mr. Hubbard was preceded in death by his sister Norma Jean Walker (Burton), his sister-in-law Jackie Pennington, and his father-in-law McKinley Doss.

      A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at County Line Christian Church in Axton, Va. with Minister Dean Ashby and Minister Tim Maness officiating. The family will receive friends at County Line Christian Church Wednesday, July 22, 2015 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. and other times at the residence, 208 Stanley Drive, Danville. Interment will follow the service at the Doss Family Cemetery in Museville, Va.

      In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to County Line Christian Church, 12711 Chatham Rd., Axton, VA 24054, or to the Danville Lifesaving Crew, 202 Christopher Lane, Danville, VA 24541.
