I don't know which John Reynolds this is, but he would be about the same age as Jabe, I suppose. As for the two bottom photos - on the left is Mabel (Wells) Merricks, daughter of Charles Wesley and wife of Walter B. Merricks - on the right is "Daddy's G'Ma Palmer's House - Mama & Daddy lived w/ her". This photo and note came from Miss Mabel's granddaughter, so I am assuming G'ma Palmer would be Miss Mabel's grandmother, Betty Ann Grant Palmer who lived at Worlds.

Her maternal uncle, Robert Martin, was appointed her guardian. She was living with his family in 1850 in Henry County and with her father in Franklin County in 1860. Her maternal grandfather, Orson Martin, left her 3 slaves upon his death in 1859. A number of cases can be found in the Henry County Chancery Records of the 1870s concerning this legacy. She married 25 January 1872 in Franklin County to Edward W. Palmer (28 March 1849-16 January 1904), son of William Robert and Lydia (Hundley) Palmer. Her father left her $1.00 in his will. Children: Mary Elizabeth (1872-1952) married (1) George Merricks (2) Sunny King Kendrick, Nannie Belle, William Robert (1876-1965) married Hillie A. I have a distant relative in my Wells line who is quite bothered by the fact that some of the research you did on our Grant line is incorrect on your site. I would be happy to correct it, but I haven't been able to find the information you sent me years ago that allowed me to access and add information to the site. Basically, the woman who married James Robert Grant and was the mother of Betty Grant who married William Palmer in the database is the incorrect woman. Love, Cindy Betty Grant, her mother was Mary Martin, daughter of Orson Martin. She died while Betty was still an infant and Betty was an only child. Her father never remarried, but did live with a woman for a number of years before his death. Betty was raised by her maternal uncle, Robert Martin. There are Chancery cases in Henry County which verify this.
