  Born in Kentucky. Son of James Jefferson Reynolds and Frances "Fanny" Smithey-Crisp. John Warwick was married to: (1) Frances "Fanny" Anderson, (2) Emily (Milam) Crow. John Warwick was a schoolteacher at Flynns Lick, Jackson County, TN. While he was teaching he wrote and had published a math book. He came to MO in 1819 to Gallatin, Daviess Co. MO. John and his first wife, Fanny Anderson, moved to Clay County about 1831. Fanny died in 1845 and John then married Emily (Milam) Crow. John became the guardian of his wife, Emily's children by a previous marriage (to Mr. Crow) It is family tradition that John Warwick was a slave owner. When the Civil War was over he could not afford to keep the slaves as help. On the day they were leaving they were walking down the road when one little boy started crying and said he wanted to stay with John. His mother asked John if he would keep the child and care for him. John said that he would and the little boy stayed with him and Emily until he was grown. They sent him to school and treated him as if he were their own son. It is said that in appreciation, every year as long as John and Emily lived, that man came back to visit them on their farm. From the 1877 records of the Little Shoal Primitive Baptist Church, Clay County, MO: "John Warwick Reynolds made a profession of faith and was baptized in the creek by the church." John and Fanny had James Ellison Reynolds (1830-1911), Annc C. (Reynolds) Peters (1832-1914), Jonas E. Reynolds (2 Mar 1836 - ), John D. Reynolds (2 Mar 1836 - ), Thomas E. Reynolds (1833-1843), and Louisiana (1840 - ). John and Emily had Mary Frances (Reynolds) Reynolds (1847-1911) and Yerby Wilson Reynolds (1849-1917).
