      Elizabeth (Reynolds) Long
Born about 1696 [uncertain] in Hanover Parish, Richmond, Virginia
Died 15 May 1738 at about age 42 in Saint Georges Parish, Spotsylvania, Virginia

      Biography

Elizabeth Reynolds was born circa 1696, in Hanover Parish, Richmond, Virginia, a daughter of William Reynolds and Elizabeth Merryman. Elizabeth became the wife of Brumfield Long, born circa 1686, in St Mary's Parish, Richmond county, Virginia, a son of Henry Long and Anne Churchill. [1]

Brumfield's father's plantation was on the Rappahannock River, in what became King George County, in 1720. [2] Brumfield and Elizabeth settled on the 136 acres of land they had accumulated on the north side of the Rappahannock River, some from Brumfield's father, Henry, and some from the Reynolds family. Later, Brumfield and Elizabeth bought land in St. Anne's Parish in Essex County where they were living in 1734. [3]

On October 2, 1730, a Bond was recorded between Brumfield Long, with Elizabeth, his wife and Thomas Turner for the transfer of 136 acres of land, 34 acres of which was a part of 84 acres of land formerly belonging to William Reynolds, father to Elizabeth (Reynolds) Long. [4] Note: More details concerning this deed is found at Colonial Settlers. See sources

Elizabeth and Brumfield became the parents of seven sons and an unknown number of daughters. Elizabeth (Reynolds) Long died before May 15, 1738. [5] After her death, Brumfield married a woman named Mary (?nee) and moved to newly formed St. George Parish, Spotsylvania County, Virginia, where he wrote his Will in 1763 [6]

      Bio- Bumfield Long:
      Biography
      1776 Project
Brumfield Long served with 1776 Project Needs Additional Sources during the American Revolution.

Brumfield was born about 1721, in St. Mary's Parish, Richmond, Virginia, a son of a son of Brumfield Long, born circa 1686, and Elizabeth Reynolds, born circa 1696. Benjamin is remembered in his father's Will, probated August 1, 1763, in St. George's Parish, Spotsylvania County, Virginia. [1]

      Brumfield was twice married.
His first wife was Elizabeth Bond, born circa 1734, in St George's Parish. Brumfield and Elizabeth became the parents of nine children. Elizabeth (Bond) Long died after 1760, in St Mark's Parish, Culpeper county, Virginia.
Brumfield married secondly, Sarah (maiden name unknown). After his death, Sarah married Hezekiah Brown, a son of James Browne of St Mark's Parish, Culpeper county, Virginia. [2]
According to Daughters of the American Revolution records, Betty Long, who married Frances Apperson is the daughter of Brumfield Long and his first wife, Elizabeth Bond. Application for membership for Frances (Carnahan) Ebaugh, National Number 406997, indicates that her ancestor, Reuben Long, who married Mary Harrison was the son of Brumfield's second wife, Sarah and gives her maiden name as Brown. [3]

Brumfield died before July 20, 1778, when his Will was probated in St. Mark's Parish, Culpeper, Virginia. [4]
