William J. Reynolds Dies At 100; Former Resident of S. Zanesville. William J. Reynolds, who would have been 101 Feb. 22, died at 4:45 at the home of a daughter Lela Burkett of 1562 Bennett Avenue, leaving 144 survivors. Mr. Reynolds a retired circuit riding minister, farmer, dairyman, and teamster, formerly made his home at 48 East Main street South Zanesville. He had been in failing health for 18 months.
Mr. Reynolds was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a son of Charles and Mary Jane Devore.
He was a life-long Methodist and served as an assistant minister in West Virginia. For 10 years he was a circuit rider there. His wife, Ida Mae, died in July 1969.
After coming to this area in 1922 he worked as a dairyman and farmer.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Burkett, with whom he had made his home, Mrs. Mabel Bunner of Walker, W.Va., Mrs. Wilford (Opal) Wilson of Ostego, Mrs. Hazel Swope of Toboso, Mrs. James (Beatrice) Thomason of Hurst, Texas; two sons, Ralph of Corning and Clifford of St. Louis, Mo.; 33 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, George of Harrisburgh, Pa., and Oss Reynolds of Orlando, Fla.
A son and a daughter are deceased.
Burial will be at Memorial Park.
