      Mercer "declared their intentions."

In an unindexed file in Historical Society in West Chester Pa. I found correspondence between Henry Armitt Brown and Gilbert Cope in regard to the Browns. There was also a record of a grant to
James Browne of land on Chichester Creek in 1683. James Browne gave the land, about 2 acres, for the meeting house and burial ground for Chichester meeting. In l68h a Walter Martin of Chichester sold his neighbor James Browne, who called his place Pudington, 60 acres of his land for 60# James was to pay 7 pence quit rent yearly to William Penn.
