While it isn't certain since there is no legible marker evident, Ann "Nancy" Lindsay is probably buried here at the site of her home, where several of her children are buried. I am told that there were once some 30 to 50 graves at this cemetery, of the Lindsays and their servants, but only six stones remain, and one of them (perhaps Ann's) is illegible.

Ann "Nancy" McGee was the daughter of Col. John McGee (d.1773), a prominent planter and early settler in what is now Randolph County, NC, and his first wife, whose name is not defintiely known, but I believe to have been Elizabeth Ridge, daughter of Godfrey Ridge of Virginia and NC. After Ann's mother's death, her father married Martha McFarlane (1735-1820), who became a spy for the American side during the Revolution.

On 23 June 1772, Ann married, as his second wife, Judge Robert Lindsay, Sr., a prominent land owner and jurist. They raised a family of eight children: Senator Samuel Lindsay (c.1774-1813), Colonel Robert Lindsay, Jr. (1776-1818), William Lindsay (1777-1841), Jane Lindsay (1779-1827, Mrs. Jesse Hargrave), Elizabeth Lindsay (1784-1825, Mrs. Rev. Samuel Craighead Caldwell), Andrew Lindsay (1786-1844), Susannah Lindsay (1789-1857, Mrs. Dr. Joseph Wood), and David Lindsay (1793-1860).

According to the diary of her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Dick (Mrs. Andrew) Lindsay, Ann "Nancy" McGee Lindsay died in November of 1832, aged about 78 or 79 years.
