      Elizabeth Perkins, first married to William Letcher, after his tragic death she soon became the wife of Col. George Hairston. Mother of at least 12 children. She was the daughter of Nicholas Perkins and Bethenia Hardin of Henrico County, VA

      Additional information from Sharon Stuart McRee, a relative:
      With William T. Letcher she had Bethenia Letcher, who was raised on the Hairston estate at Beaver Creek, Henry County VA. Bethenia married David Pannill;. Their daughter Elizabeth became the mother of J.E.B. Stuart of CSA fame.

      Additional information from another contributor follows:
      Her obituary gives year of death as 1819. From Marriages and Deaths from Lynchburg, VA, Newspapers 1794-1836 citing the Lynchburg Press and Public Advertiser of 25 Feb 1819: "Died- At her residence in the County of Henry on Tuesday January 26th, Mrs. Elizabeth Hairston, consort of Col. George Hairston, in the 60th year of her age."
