General Robert Lewis' son, John Sr. was born in England where he was educated and married, in 1555, Isabella Warner. Isabella, the d/o Augustine Warner inherited her father's estate, 'Warner Hall'. John Lewis, Sr. died in 1725. Their son, Major John Jr. [Lewis] of Gloucester, a member of the Virginia Council, was born in 1731 and died in 1754. John3 Lewis Jr. (John2, John1) was born on 30 Nov 1669. He married Elizabeth Warner, daughter of Col. Augustine Warner II and Mildred Reade, circa 1691. He died on 14 Nov 1725 at 'Warner Hall', Gloucester Co., VA, at age 55. He and Elizabeth Warner lived at 'Warner Hall', Gloucester Co., VA. He and Elizabeth Warner had 14 children. He was a member of the Governor's Council from 1705 to 1725 at Virginia. Elizabeth Warner was born on 24 Nov 1672 at 'Chesake', Gloucester Co., VA. She died on 5 Feb 1719/20 at Gloucester Co., VA, at age 47. She was buried at 'Warner Hall', Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co., VA. Known children of Col. [S82] Wikitree, https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lewis-684. Councilor John Lewis of Warner Hall was a Vestryman of St. Peter?s Parish. He was born 30 November 1669, Abingdon Parish, Gloucester, Virginia. He lived at St. Peter's Parish, New Kent Co., VA and Ware Parish, Gloucester County, VA. Between 1689 and 1702 there were several entries pertaining to John Lewis in the St. Peter's Parish Vestry book in New Kent County where Chemokins was located. He received a large tract of land at Chemokins when his father died. Their first home was probably Chemokins as Elizabeth's brother Robert Warner had inherited Warner Hall from his mother. On 5 January 1695, a John Lewis was elected Vestryman for St. Peter's Parish. In the minutes of 4 March 1702 "Mr. John Lewis lately departed this county." This is perhaps when they moved to Warner Hall, which became their home. In 1704, he [John, the younger] was appointed to Council, one of only 12 members at that time and sworn in 26 June 1707. He served for 20 years until his death. On 2 Sep 1707, he was appointed Commander of King and Queen County, Virginia. In 1717 he owned in fee-simple Chemokins alias Port Holy, a tract in St. Peter's Parish, New Kent County which he deeded that year to his son Charles. Some of the early baptismal records of his children referred to him as "Captain", but he soon rose to the rank of Colonel and most of the records of the eighteenth century accord him that title. Councilor Lewis was perhaps the wealthiest Virginian of his day and certainly no contemporary Virginian was of higher standing. In 1704, the Nicholson's Rent Roll shows John Lewis' holdings included 2000 acres in Abingdon Parish, Gloucester Co.; 300 acres in York Co.; 2600 acres in New Kent Co.; and several grants in King & Queen Co., the largest 10,100 acres. The 2600 acres in New Kent Co. is the exact size of the Chemokins estate. His brother Edward inherited their father's estate on Poropotank Creek in King & Queen County. Elizabeth, the third daughter of Augustine Warner II, became the wife of John Lewis and inherited Warner Hall. Their son, John Lewis II was a member of His Majesty's Council, and was prominent in the county. For generations, the Lewises lived here, and members of the family migrated to all parts of the United States. Their descendants built Belle Farm, Eagle Point, Abingdon, Severby, and Severn Hall, all in Virginia. Elizabeth and John Lewis I's grandson, Colonel Fielding Lewis, of Belle Farm, married Catherine Washington, and after her death married Elizabeth Washington, also known as Betty, sister of George. He built beautiful Kenmore for her, in Fredericksburg "Her gravestone states she was the loving mother of fourteen children. A web site, no longer online (Warner Cemetery), indicated that Elizabeth Lewis's tombstone inscription (line breaks removed/punctuation added) was: Here lyeth Interred ye body of Elizabeth Lewis, the daughter of Col. Augustine Warner and Mildred his Wife, and late Wife of John Lewis Esq. She was born at Chesake the 24th of November 1672 [died] Aged 47 years 2 months and 12 days and was a Tender Mother of 14 children. She departed this life the 6th Day
