to me
Comments (Search Results): Greetings, I came across your site while researching my Terry ancestors. I am trying to confirm the line extending backwards from Champness Terry Died Oct 1820 in New Orleans. On record states he married a Mary MacMillan from S Carolina.
His daughter Hannah Leah Terry (born 1815 New Orleans-d 1897) married Imla Keep (born MAss 1735, died Vicksburg 1854); and their daughter Evelyn Hamlin Keep (1839-1867 Bolton MS) married Thomas Jefferson Bolton (1821-1867) - my gr gr grandfather.
I suspect that the Terrys and the Boltons descended from older families in Virginia; but so far haven't been able to establish it.
Champness Terry is a pretty unusual name, so I"m hopeful you can help with establishing a link? I was wondering if my Champness's father might have been Champness who died in South Carolina in the 1770s.
Thank you!
