    The affidavit of Susanna E Clarke given at Russellville in Logan County Kentucky on Monday the 5th day of August 1833
    This affiant now in the 70th year of her age saith that she intermarried with Captain John Scott of Gloucester County in the State of Virginia in the year 1781, she further saith that she had four children by said Captain Scott to wit William B Scott; Mildred S Scott, Lucy Scott who intermarried with one Branch Bibb, and John W Scott, said Mildred Scott intermarried with one Ballard Davenport, by whom she had three children, who are still alive to wit Doritha, Richard, James and Mary Ballard she herself having departed this life, and said William B Scott is also dead, but left two sons, who are still living, George B Scott, and John James Scott. This affiant knew Captain Scott whilst in the Army of the United States before she married him, she frequently afterwards heard him say that he served as an officer in the Virginia State line indeed she saw him repeatedly his commission as Lieutenant of Artillery she made him a case for his Commission before their marriage to the best of her recollection her former husband the said Captain Scott belonged during his service in the United States as before stated to Colonel Marshall's Regiment at least for a part of the time, this affiant's maiden name was Bibb, after the death of Captain Scott, she married one Richard Clarke who is also dead; she is now a widow living in Todd County in the State of Kentucky.

Bibb, 70, her husband, filed a claim under the 1836 act stating that John W Scott and Lucy Bibb are the only surviving children and heirs at law of Elizabeth Clarke, formerly Elizabeth Scott, widow of their father Captain John Scott; that their mother's full name was Susan or Susanna Elizabeth but was more frequently called Elizabeth; that their father John Scott was a Captain or Captain Lieutenant in the Revolution; that their mother was a widow and July 1836; that she died in Todd County Kentucky on the last day of July 1836.

    "John Bibb 1703-1769 #3-1 son of William Bibb #2-1 Born in Prince Edward County, Virginia and located in Goochland County where he became a very prominent planter. John Bibb married Susanna Bigger; children:

    Susanna Bibb of the above family of children married James Bigger and was the mother of Honorable James Bigger of Padukah, Kentucky.
    This John Bibb #3-1 was the sole representative of branch B of the third generation of the Bibb family in America. Perhaps he was the wealthiest of the Bibb group of his time.
    In 1777 John was Captain of the Virginia Militia of Prince Edward County. He seems to have been succeeded in this position by his son, William Bibb, who later migrated to Georgia. John Bibb's Will, a lengthy document, is recorded on page 213 of Will book #9 Goochland County, VA. A copy of this will is on file in Volume 4 of the writer's Bibb papers. This Will is the source of information relative to
    the above list of children coming to the home of John and Susanna Bibb.
    These sons of John Bibb rendered good service in the Revolutionary War. One or two Captains, one Major and one who furnished at his won initiative much provisions to sustain the army. "

    This day Susan Clark late Susan Scott aged seventy years personally appeared before me Philip C Slaughter a Justice of the Peace in & for the County & state aforesaid and made oath in due form of law that shortly after John Scott as she understood from him & from others became a supernumerary officer in the Army of the Revolutionary war in 1781 she intermarried with him, that the said John Scott was a Lieutenant in the Regiment commanded by Colonel Thomas Marshall of the Virginia State line of Artillery as she understood and believes having frequently seen his commission & previous to their intermarriage made a case for it. That after his term of service expired he was called Captain Scott. That she had by said Scott the following children, William B. Scott, Mildred S Scott, Lucy Scott and John W Scott, Lucy Scott, intermarried with Branch Bibb, Mildred Scott intermarried with Ballard Davenport and had the 3 following children viz. Doratha, Richard James & Mary Ballard who are still living but their mother Mildred is dead, William B Scott is dead, but has two children only viz. George B Scott & John James Scott who are now the legal representatives of said Captain John Scott deceased who departed this life on the __ day of June 1790.

    John Bibb of Goochland is the third generation of this family in this country. His grandfather Benjamin Bibb came from Wales to Hanover Co., Virginia. Whom he married is not known. It is said he was a Huguenot who fled to Wales after the revocation of Edict of Nantes, 1685. He had three sons; James, William and Thomas. William Bib had issue: 1) John Bibb; 2) Nancy who married Robert Edwards; 3) Mary married Barton Key [William & Mary Quarterly, VII,103. The son, John of Goochland (Will 24 May, 1769; proved 17 Jul 1769)in 1738 entered 800 acres in Amelia County on Buffalo River and in 1745 1200 acres and in 1759 150 acres married Susannah, d/o William Bigger; His will mentions: "Sons Richard, John, James, William and daughters Susannah wife of James Clark (whom she married 19 May, 1762); Elizabeth, wife of William Farrar; my granddaughter, Lucy Clark, my granddaughter, Susannah Eliz.
