    Name:
Discussion with Connie Spring regarding the ages of the members of this family: Carolyn Wesley is probably not age 30 at her death, based on the Census records. Dates for her children are also off.

" In the 1870 census it shows (looks like) Guston? age 8, I believe than is Caesar Augustine b. 1864 (he changed his name to Samuel A. Carter) It also shows a John and Joseph living with them (IF this is our James and Caroline, then John and Joseph were counted twice in 1870. I have different dates of Caesar A 's birth. One date he was born before they got married.
So, I am just assuming that Caroline is the daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Williamson Wesley."

[This is as stated on her marriage license] Note: In the 1870 Halifax Census Caroline Wesley, d/o Paul and Elizabeth is shown as 22 years old. She has a sister, Eliza, who is 30 years old. If she was married in 1865, why was she in the HH of her mother and father in 1870

This James T. Carter married Martha McCann in Halifax and lived there all of his life. He and Martha sold land to family members, Addison Lafayette Edwards and his wife, Sallie Frances Powell, [d/o Mastin Powell,] in Halifax Co. Based on that fact, and the several other James T. Carters named for him, it is probable that he is family. Deeds define the relationships of Powells, Edwards, Carters, Wesleys who intermarry in Halifax in the 19th century are neighbors. The land he sold to Edwards is land owned by his wife's father, Paul Wesley. Addison Edwards, s/o James M. Edwards married Sarah Frances 'Sallie Fannie' Powell, eldest d/o Mastin Powell.
