    Anne married Colonel William Lewis. William (son of John Gilbert of Beverley Manor 'Pioneer' Lewis and Margaret Lynn) was born 17 Nov 1724, County Donegal, Ulster Province, Ireland; died 1811, Bellefonte, Augusta County, Virginia. [Group Sheet]

    Married:
    Col. William Lewis, s/o Pioneer John, of Augusta county, was an officer under General Braddock and was wounded at his defeat. William was also an elder in the Presbyterian church and resided at Sweet Springs, in Virginia. He married Ann Montgomery, had eight children and died in 1811. Children: Margaret, m. James McFarland of Pittsburgh, PA, Major John, s/o Wm. Lewis, was an officer in the Revolutionary war and commanded a company at the battle of Monmouth. In 1777 Wm. Lewis was with Washington at Valley Forge.
