    Sons of Robert Breckenridge and Miss Poage of Augusta and by her he had two sons, Robert and Alexander. These sons, not living harmoniously with their step-mother, were sent to Hanover county to learn the carpenter's trade with Francis Smith, Col. William Preston's brother-in law. Both sons served as soldiers during the Revolution, and finally settled in Kentucky.

    Robert married Lettice/Letitia Preston 6 Jul 1758, Augusta Co., Virginia Colony. Lettice/Letitia (daughter of John Preston and Elizabeth Patton) was born Est 1735, Colonial Virginia; died Yes, date unknown, Prob. Augusta County, Virginia. [Group Sheet]

    ~John b. 2 Dec 1760 d. 14 Dec 1806, educated at Wm & Mary, was a member was a member of the House of Delegates of Virginia removed in 1793 to KY near Lexington; Attorney General of KY 1795-97, member of House of Delegates 1797-1800, Speaker 1800, U.S. Senator 1801-1805 and attorney General of United States 1805 until his death. He married 22 Feb 1789, Mary Hopkins, d/o Col. Joseph Cabell of Buckingham Co. VA.

    Bell vs. Borden's executor. ? ^James Bell (one entry for himself and one for John MulhoUand, his servant) prior to 1738, and on February 21, 1738, Alex. Breckinridge, George, James, Robert and Adam Breckenridge, John Moore, Quantin Moore, George Henderson, Thomas Armstrong, John Bell, John Walters, William McCanless, Robert Poage, Seth Poage, Daniel Mc- Anaire and John Grove entered each 100 acres with Benjamin Borden, but got no deed. Suit by James Bell to get deed. Benjamin Borden, Jr., charges in answer that James Bell caused a servant wench of his to be dressed in man's clothes and made an entry in her name as a man, and also caused another woman, the wife of William McKenless, to appear in her proper person on a different part of land as the wife of another settler and thereby obtained another entry.
