    Mildred married Sgt. James Lucas 5 Feb 1802 (Bond), Campbell County, Virginia. James was born 1760, Ellicott City, Howard, Maryland; died 1820, Halifax Co., Virginia. [Group Sheet]

    Notes:

    There is a marriage bond for a James Lucas and Mildred Key 5 Feb 1802 in Campbell Co., VA. It is not known at this time if he is the same James Lucas who married Ruth Holmes Lewis. The dates shown for James Lucas and Ruth Lewis are proven correct. James Lucas m. Frances Carter (nee Walters), [widow of Richard Carter 'Gunsmith'] in 1803. As Frances Carter's son, Spencer, married the daughter of James Lucas; Frances' marriage to her daughter-in-law's father indicates Ruth Holmes Lewis was dec'd by 1802 or certainly by 1803. Note: Marriage record of Ann Arundal Co., MD, and DAR records are found to substantiate the given dates for their births or deaths. To date 2022 evidence of her middle name (Holmes) not found. -mfe
