    Doris Gray Reynolds, 92, formerly of Ridgecrest Dr, Danville, Va., passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016, at the home she shared with her daughter, Karen R. Gammons, and devoted son-in-law, Jerry Gammons at The Villages, Fla. She was born on November 10, 1923, Danville, Va., to the late James Gray and Alice Smith Gray. Mrs. Reynolds was helpmate to her husband, Linwood Reynolds, Jr. for almost fifty years. Many of those years they farmed together. She lovingly cared for him for many years when he was in declining health. He predeceased her in July, 1997. She was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist church for many years. Mrs. Reynolds is also survived by her son, Michael Gray Reynolds of Peachtree City, Ga.; her grandson, Christopher Reynolds of Peachtree City, Ga.; and her granddaughter, Nicole Reynolds of Queens, N.Y. She is survived by her sister, Beatrice Holley and brother, Carl Gray, both of Danville, Va., her sister, Gladys McDowell of Denver, N.C., and brother, James Gray of Roanoke, Va. She was predeceased by her eldest brother, Averette Gray. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Lemma Reynolds Davis, and Hazel Reynolds Gregory of Danville, Va.; and brother-in-law, Jerry Reynolds of Danville, Va. Her husband's family was a large loving family that she was very close to. Many of them predeceased her. She is also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews and her husband's wonderful nieces and nephews, including Sandra Davis Short and her husband, Bobby Short, who were very special to her.Mrs. Reynolds was a great listener and cared deeply about people and we will all miss her fantastic memory. Before her vision problems she sewed and made many crafts but especially beautiful baskets. The Virginia Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired furnished Mrs. Reynolds with equipment and advice for many years and she dearly loved their books on tape.Funeral services will be held at the Mausoleum and graveside at Danville Memorial Gardens on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at 2 p.m. Her nephew, the Rev. Kenneth Gray will be officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 14, 2016,7 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel at 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA 24541.
