  1. 1.  George Steele was born 1918, Chester County, Pennsylvania; died 20 Aug 2012, Chester County, Pennsylvania; was buried , Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

    Notes:

    George Steele, 93, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, August 20, 2012, at Crosslands, Kennett Square, where he resided for the past 17 years.

    He was the husband of Anna Davis Steele of Kennett Square and the late Rhoda Eleanor Brown Steele.

    Born in Pocopson, Birmingham Township, he was the son of the late Hugh Exton Steele and the late Katherine Spague Stevens Steele.

    As a birthright Quaker, he was an active member of Birmingham Friends Meeting. George was a 1936 graduate of West Chester High School and attended Penn State University in State College.

    George was a lifelong dairy farmer until his retirement in 1985. The four generation Geoel Farm was recognized as a Century Farm for over 100 years in the dairy industry.

    In 1964, he began his career with Agway, Inc., serving on the Board of Directors for 18 years then became Chairman of the Board for an additional 12 years. He retired from Agway in 1985.

    He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau Cooperative in Chester County and Harrisburg. He served on the board of Farm Credit Banks in Baltimore, Md. for 18 years and the Federal Farm Credit Bureau in Washington, D.C. for 5 years. George was a past supervisor in Birmingham Township for 18 years.

    George married Anna Nichols Reynolds 21 Sep 1996. Anna (daughter of Ahia Brinton Reynolds and Mary Cloud) was born 1917, Pocopson Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania; died 7 Sep 2012, Kennett Square, Chester County, Pennsylvania; was buried , Birmingham-Lafeyette Cemetery . [Group Sheet]
