Cecil Edwin Wassem contacted polio at a very early age
      (there being no vaccine
for the disease at the time); consequently, his heart
      failed to grow with the
rest of his body. He died at the age of 36 as a result of
      heart failure; that
portion of his heart which had grown had done twice the
      work and just gave out.
