My line is: RICHARD REYNOLDS born ca. 1720-1730 in VA, and died approx. 1787 in Wilkes Co. GA. He married SARAH ANN DOGGETT, daughter of GEORGE DOGGETT and ANN CHATTIN of Culpeper Co VA. No marriage record but circumstantial evidence pretty much supports this. This man is listed as Richard Spencer Reynolds in Tillman's book - and the book's information on this line is riddled with errors. This family lived in Orange and Culpeper Cos. of VA, before migrating to Pittsylvania/Henry Cos. of VA, then on to Wilkes Co. GA by 1780s. Sarah Ann Doggett Reynolds died abt. 1793 in Wilkes Co. GA. Have not established parentage of Richard Reynolds -- likely one of the Reynolds families seen in Spotsylvania or Orange Cos. VA in 1720-1750 range. Thomas, Benjamin and Joseph Reynolds, sons of Richard and Sarah Ann Reynolds were in western KY by 180, after brief layovers in Oglethorpe, then Jackson Cos. of GA before moving to KY. Thomas and Benjamin appear on the first Hopkins Co. KY tax
Children of RICHARD REYNOLDS and SARAH Ann DOGGETT are:
>
> i. My direct ancestor:THOMAS2 REYNOLDS, b. Abt. 1766?(acc. to Tillman's book); d. 1831, Hopkins Co. KY. (Married probably Martha "Patsy" Crowley, d/o Benjamin Crowley and Sarah Strong). Descendants remained more or less in Hopkins/Webster Cos. of western KY.
>
> ii. BENJAMIN REYNOLDS, (married Nancy LNU), b. Bet. 1760 - 1770, VA; d. Abt. 1844, Wabash Co., IL.
>
> iii. JOSEPH REYNOLDS, (married Frances LNU), b. Abt. 1770, VA; d. 1822, Hickman County KY. Most descendants remained in and around Graves County KY, some in Muhlenberg Co. KY.
>
> iv. GEORGE REYNOLDS, (m. Susannah Lansford 1779 in Henry Co. VA) b. Abt. 1754, VA; lived in Henry and Pittsylvania Cos of VA until about 1808, d. Abt. 1813, Williamson Co. TN.
>
> v. RICHARD REYNOLDS. Nothing more known except he is listed as an heir of Richard Reynolds in Wilkes Co. GA estate papers.
>
> vi . ELIZABETH REYNOLDS. (Betsey Reynolds mentioned in Richard Reynolds' Wilkes Co. estate papers) m. Joel Morton 1796 in Oglethorpe Co. Ga. Joel left 1839 will in Clarke Co. GA. Betsey living in Clarke Co. GA at 1850 census age 77, with daughter Tabitha Dean.
>
> vii. SPENCER REYNOLDS, m. Phebe Waggoner, d/o Greensby Waggoner. B. abt. 1750, Orange or Culpeper Co. VA; d. Abt. 1830, Williamson Co. TN. Spent time in between in Pittsylvania/Henry Cos of VA, Wilkes/Oglethorpe/Clarke Cos GA before moving on to TN.
>
> viii. JOHN REYNOLDS. Listed as heir in Richard Reynolds's Wilkes Co. GA estate papers, nothing more known.
>
> ix. MARY REYNOLDS, m. JOSEPH FORTUNE who left 1784 will in Pittsylvania Co. VA. Remarried to Hezekiah Salmon after Joseph Fortune's death.
>
> x. ANN REYNOLDS m. JOHN JACOB REIGER before 1776, died bfore 1802 probably in Pittsylvania Co. VA. Jacob Reiger d. abt. 1802 in Pittsylvania Co. VA.
>
> xi. UNKNOWN REYNOLDS d. probably Wilkes County GA, married CATY JAMES. Orphaned children Aaron (b. 1786) and Moses Reynolds (b. abt. 1785) went to Hopkins Co. KY with their guardian (and probable uncle) Thomas Reynolds by 1807.

I, JOSEPH FORTUNE being sick and weak, but being of sound mind and memory. To my loving wife MARY FORTUNE during her widowhood or life, an equal part of my estate with my children, to wit: ELIZABETH and SARAH. But as my wife is with child, should the child survive to receive an equal part with the rest. It is my desire that as long as my wife remains a widow to keep the estate in her possession. The 250 acres in the state of South Carolina that I purchased of LEONARD NOBLES and adjoining that of JAMES HARGROVE, should my executors think it best, sell this and purchase other land for the benefit of the estate. But if my wife think proper, she may go and live upon said land. A stud horse called Whyne now in the possession of SPENCER REYNOLDS but half mine, should remain with REYNOLDS until a sale can be made but if REYNOLDS should want to purchase same, to pay my estate and deduct the expense for upkeep. Appoint loving wife and SPENCER REYNOLDS executors.
JOSEPH (X) FORTUNE
Wit: George Reynolds, Richard Reynolds, Phebe (X) Farrer, Will. Tunstall
