(Accession # 21684020). Prince Edward County, Virginia. William Carter states that he became security to a bond for John F. Price. The loan for $8,240 was payable to Henry P. Davis on 1 May 1836. The petitioner claims to have paid a portion of the bond in cash. Price acknowledged the debt and agreed to reimburse Carter, but he has not done so. Carter informs the court that Price has three slaves hired out in the state of Virginia and has an interest in his father's estate. He therefore prays that the 'lands moneys property or other effects be condemned' for the purpose of reimbursing him for covering Price's debt.
