Birth: Jun. 22, 1971 Danville Danville City Virginia, USA Death: Jun. 6, 2009 Ringgold Pittsylvania County Virginia, USA Joseph Linwood "Joey" Bennett, age 37, of 629 Ferguson Road, Ringgold, VA died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at his residence. Joey was born on June 22, 1971 in Danville, the son of Walter Edward Bennett and Carolyn Cox Bennett Holcombe. He had lived most of his life in Danville and was a graduate of Danville Community College and Radford University. He is survived by his mother and father, both of Danville, his step-mother, Paulette Webber Bennett of Danville; his step-father, James Holcombe of Danville, two brothers: Michael Edward Bennett and his wife, Stephanie, of Dry Fork, Brian Lee Bennett and his wife, Julie, of Chatham; one niece: Jordan Bennett of Chatham; one nephew: Garrett Bennett of Chatham. He was pre-deceased by his Maternal Grandparents: M. L. "Droopy" Cox and Della Cox, his Paternal Grandparents: Ernest L. Bennett and Lucille Bennett, and by one brother: Mark Edward Bennett. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 2 P.M. from the Shermont Baptist Church by the Rev. Ryan Riley and the Rev. Bill Soyars. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of his father, 413 Ridgecrest Drive, and at the residence of his mother, 114 Brush Arbor Court. The family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the Kentuck Fire Department or the Ringgold Fire Department.
