This cemetery seems to contain the family of Asa Judson Green and his wife Bettie Blackwell; Nathaniel Paul is Asa's Brother. Bettie Blackwell is his Mother. [Lucy P. Green is Asa's Sister. Others shown buried here are Asa's Children.
Related Greens; I suspect both Martha Susan Green and her Father William N. [Probably Nathaniel] Green are also buried with this family. William N. Green died about 1860 and his daughter, Martha Susan [1st wife of George Turner Carter] who died about 1881. I have found no burial place for either of them. Asa Judson Green is the brother of William N. Green. -Mary Frances Eggleston

William Turner(son of James Turner) married Nancy LeGrand in Halifax Co., VA in 1798. (Nancy was the granddaughter of the Huguenot immigrant Pierre LeGrand of Manakintowne, VA.) They had at least one child, a son James LeGrand Turner, who was born in 1799 in Richmond Co., NC. By 1807 this family was in Maury Co., TN. William and Nancy were both believed to be dead by 1814. James LeGrand Turner married 1st to a Miss Kitchens (no children), and married 2nd to Julina Sessums in TN on Christmas Day, 1824. They had 15 children who were born in TN, AL, and TX. James LeGrand Turner became a Medical Doctor at some point in his life, and he died in Bastrop County, TX in 1870. Did he have siblings? Where did his marriages occur? Did the first wife die in childbirth? Who were Julina Sessums parents? If you can add or subtract anything to/from this please contact me.

I don't know anything about the Alsup family except that James LeGrand Turner's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th children married into that line. That usually indicates that the two families were extraordinarily close--in fact they may have made two or more migrations together. Maybe TN to AL, and it sure looks like they moved from AL/MS to TX together.
I believe that the name Sanford originated from the marriage of James Turner II's sister to a Robert Sanford. I'm pretty sure this couple and their family moved from NC or VA to Maury Co., TN to be near James Turner II and his family.

I have what is undoubtedly the same Harriet LeGrand Turner, b. TN 7 Apr 1830, m. J. Alsup. I didn't have her place of death but I'm sure not surprised that it was in Bastrop Co., TX. Harriet was the fourth child of Dr. James LeGrand Turner b. NC 9 Sep 1799 d. 9 Dec 1870 in Alum Creek, Bastrop Co., TX and his wife Julina Sessums b. 5 Jun 1808 in Raleigh, Wake Co., NC. d. 3 Oct 1876 in Alum Creek, Bastrop Co., TX. (Both are buried in unmarked graves in the Alum Creek Cemetery.) Dr. Turner was reputed to be the first M.D. in Bastrop County. It seems likely that Harriet was born in Lauderdale Co., TN inasmuch as her parents are listed as residents there in the 1830 US Census.
James. L. Turner was the son of William Turner b. 1771 Halifax Co., VA and his wife Nancy LeGrand b. Halifax Co., VA 1771/74. This coupole was married in Halifax Co., VA 4 Oct 1798. I believe this family, along with several relatives, moved to Maury Co., TN about 1808. William died there in 1812/13, and I'm not certain what happened to his wife. The mystery I am trying to solve is whether there were other children besides James LeGrand Turner. I'm certain this couple was alive from the time of James L. 's birth to 1812 and there are no children known to me. Most couples of that day would have had 6 or 8 during that time period of 12 years.
William was the son of James Turner who was born in what was then Orange Co., VA in about 1842. He was the only son of James Turner b. Spotsylvania Co., VA about 1710 and his wife Kerenhappuch. She was born in the same country in about 1716 to Isaac Norman, Jr. and his wife Frances Courtney. Kerenhappuch became a revolutionary war heroine by virtue of her services as a nurse at the battle of Guilford County Courthouse, NC. in 1781. Her son James was Capt. in the Virginia Militia and he was gravely wounded in the battle. A grandson was also wounded. Kerenhappuch nursed them both as well as other soldiers who were wounded.

      Hello W.B.,
I have a Harriet LeGrand Turner (b.1830 Maury Co. Tn. - d. Bastrop Co. Texas ) who in my family was said to be a descendant of James Turner (b. 1710 Va. - d. 1780 Halifax Co., Va.) Harriet married James Sanford Alsup Sr. I don't know if this helps you, but if you have information regarding the existance of Harriet LeGrand as the daughter of James Turner, Or any other Turner I would appreciate knowing - as I need further information on my Turner line.
