  • Notes
    • William Reynolds, long thought to be the son of Hugh Reynolds, is now proven the father of Jesse Runnals who documents his family and that of his father in his Applicaiton for Benefits; Jesse states that he was born in Culpepper County, Virginia and he gives his mother's maiden name and that of his wife. We call him William of Culpepper to differentiate between this William and the many other Williams in these Reynolds lines.

William of Culpepper Reynolds appears in Pittsylvania County in 1782 when he buys 200 acres of land from Robert Walters on Burches Creek (DB6/240) He sold to his son Jesse, so named in the deed, 100 acres of this land 16 Apr 1787 (DB8/20).
Wm Reynolds will was proven 18 Jul 1791. On 17 Feb 1794 Jessee Reynolds purchased from Joseph Reynolds and wife Betsey from Halifax County and from Richard Cole and wife Nancy of Pittsylvania County, 104 acres on Burches Creek, land "left by will of William Reynolds, dec'd.,to Joseph and Richard Reynolds.(DB9/510)
