Joan (Jeane) Franklin NATHANIEL BRADFORD, Accomack Co., VA Immigrated about 1650 possibly to Northampton Co VA Family generally described as 'Planters'.There are NO Bradfords listed in the book: COUNTY COURT RECORDS OF ACCOMACK-NORTHAMPTON, VIRGINIA 1640-1645 edited by Susie M. Ames. In 1697 Colonel Scarburgh petitioned that his competitor, NATHANIEL BRADFORD, a currier by trade, should be punished for his failure to perform the duties, which the law imposed upon all who followed that business. Bradford was the owner of a tan-house and a shoemaker's shop, and at the time of his death was in possession of 318 hides and 46 lasts! Such competition was not welcomed by Scarburgh.
