  Elizabeth H. Bibb (nee) Neal, d/o William and Martha Neal, is identified as the wife of Samuel Carter, Keeper of Carter's Tavern. She is the Mother of all of his children. His next wife, Elizabeth M. Holcomb (nee Cocke) is the widow of John H. Holcomb; her 1844 Halifax Co., Will names her children of Holcomb. Betsy Michaux Cocke Holcomb Carter m. Samuel Carter in 1834 and was only married to Samuel for two years before his death in 1836. She then carried on with Carter's Tavern until her death in 1844.
