This transcription was sent as a photocopy from the publication by Grace Dyer Mellander, under cover of a letter dated 18 April 2001 "pp. THIS INDENTURE made the Nineth day of Janry: One thousand six hundred ninety and nine Between HARRY BEVERLEY of the County of MIDDLESEX Gent. of 48 the one part and JAMES REYNOLDS of the County of GLOCESTER on ye other part Witnesseth that the said HARRY BEVERLEY for ye sum of One hundred pounds Sterl. doth sell unto he (sic) said JAMES REYNOLDS his heires & assignes one thousand & seventeen acres of land being in Essex County being part of a devidend of land formerly granted by Patent to Majr. ROBERT BEVERLEY deced, bounded as followeth, beining (sic) a great white Oake standing by the side of GILSONS MAINE RUN below the Plantacon called BEVERLEYs QUARTER, thence up ye sd Run to a white Oake being a corner tree of THOMAS BLANTONs land, thence South West to a white oake near a branch that goes up to JNO. DOUBTYs House, thence South West to a small red Oake markt. with three notches on each side, thence North West to a white Oake on a levell, thence North East to an ancient corner white Oake by a small branch, thence East to a read Oake near a branch, thence North to a corner of PELLs land on the South side of a PATH, thence along PELLs line Est., thence North We. to a markt. line that parts this land of REYNOLDS & UPSHAWs land thence East down ye sd line to a red Oake markt. with three notches on each side standing on the bank where ye Run makes an Elbow close to the bank, thence down ye sd Run till it meets with GILSONS MAINE RUN, thence down GILSONS MAINE RUN to ye beginning great white Oake. George Stubblefield (d.1752) about 1736 married Catherine Beverley, the second daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Smith) Beverley, and lived in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Descendants lived in Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Iowa and elsewhere.
